Aditya II : ウィキペディア英語版
Aditya Karikalan

Aditya Karikalan or Aditya II was the most powerful Chola prince who lived in the tenth century in South India.
He was born in Tirukoilur. He was the eldest son of Sundara Chola and the brother of Rajaraja Chola I.
At a very young age he led the Chola armies against the Pandyas. He defeated the Pandya king Veerapandyan at the battle of Chevur and made him flee to the hills surrounding the battlefield. He killed Vira pandiyan after the battle chasing him into a garden near the banks of river vaigai where he killed vira pandiyan in a hut( Vira pandiyan took shelter in the hut) in the garden and took his head and returned to thanjavur. Aditya II’s inscriptions use the epithet ''Vira Pandyan Thalai Konda koparakesari" for Adithha Karikalan – "took the head of Vira Pandya".
Aditya who was the co-regent and heir apparent to the Chola throne was murdered under unclear circumstances during the reign of his father sundara chola .According to kalki Krishnamoorthy the great epic novelist of tamil nadu, In his novel ponniyin selvan narrated the death of aditya. It was a revenge made by vira pandiyan's personal body guard's named abathuthavigal. With the help of Nandhini an ex lover of aditya. But nandhini's stage was not clear why she helped the pandiyan soldier's to kill aditya. He said to be killed in the palace of Sambuvaraya at Kadambur now so calledMelakadambur lies in cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. The inquiry into the case was finished only in the 2nd year of Rajaraja Chola I. The lands of a few officials like one bearing the title Irumudi Chola were appropriated during that year as per the order signed by Kurukādi Kilān.〔''Epigraphia Indica, Volume 21, page 167''〕
Uttama Chola, the son of Gandaraditya became the next Chola king.〔See Neelakanta Sanstri, K.A., ''The Colas''〕
